    No sheath?

  4. Serialized, but not limited
Damascus is some months away still.
    No sheath.

  5. … and yes damascus will be full tang too.

  6. This is what I’ve been waiting 6 years for since this company started!

not gonna lie, i prefer the asoiaf version. its a nice looking sword but its not how i imagined it when i read the books. im still gonna buy the damascus version though.

When is the Longclaw coming? Are you guys going to produce them anytime soon?

  9. Pickles on April 13, 2013 at 7:23 am said:

The HBO version is not as cool looking as the book version but very true to the series which I actually prefer. Do I have a realistic chance of getting a damascus when you announce the pre order or do they sell out too quickly? Keep up the good work btw I’m loving needle.

  10. I don’t know if you have a realistic chance or not. In our ideal scenario all 300 damascus will sell out in 10 minutes, but will that happen? Probably not.

Longclaw is coming soon, a couple months.

  11. Is there a chance ice could sell out tomorrow?

  12. No, no chance, the regular version will not be limited edition. There is a possibility it could go on back order from time to time, but we’ll make more as long as HBO keeps letting us.

I liked how Ice looked in the TV show. It seemed to be very old and used. But this perhaps looks too new, and the golden parts are too notorius. And the blade doesn´t look like beeing valyrian steel, just normal steel.

  15. Youssef on April 13, 2013 at 7:52 pm said:

It looks amazing. I can’t wait to get one

  16. Question regarding it’s length. Is the handle actually 20 inches long, or is that just a typo. As it does not look so large in the picture

  17. Louie on April 14, 2013 at 5:49 am said:

Hey there, loving the sword! Been checking the site every morning for this baby to come out. Just a quick question for everyone though, does anyone have any experience ordering a sword from Valyrian to be shipped to New Zealand? I’ve never actually shipped anything internationally and I’m just looking for a bit of a price estimate and a run down of what I might have to go through. Also, are there any issues with paying from my Visa straight away, or are there some things I need to do first to convert my cash into USD? Any help would be hugely appreciated. Cheers guys!

  18. Youssef on April 14, 2013 at 8:47 am said:

Your right the pic doesn’t look accurate foe the size. I think they couldn’t fit the full pic in so they made it look smaller than it really is in Photoshop.

  19. The handle is very long yes.

Louie, New Zealand is no problem. You’ll likely have to pay an import tax on delivery but no other issues. Your credit card provider all automatically handle currency conversions.

  20. When will we know what serial number we will receive after we placed our preorder?

  21. you got #6 ryan

Why are the plaques so small???,book version were much better

  23. Gotta disagree with that. I love how the plaques are simple and small but to each their own.

I agree. The plaques are a small. Book ones are much nicer. But oh well the sword is bada$$

  26. No we will not make that one.

And just when I tell myself I’m not going to get another sword this year, you go and tempt me with this :P.

I just have a couple of practical questions. Roughly how heavy is Ice, and what’s the POB? I know it’s advertised as a display model, so I don’t expect it to handle like a dream, but would it hold up alright if I were to take it out to massacre a few melons or water jugs?

When is LongClaw from the HBO series to be released?

  29. Right just ordered Ice, my first purchase from you guys but not my last (definetly getting longclaw) there’s not much i need to ask you that i dont already know except for 2 things, first is it possible for you to tell me how much it will cost me to get it into Northern Ireland ($70 postage i know i mean to get it through customs or whatever)? Second when will it be dispatched?

  30. few more months on Longclaw. Few months probably to ship Ice. Now sure what Northern Ireland import taxes would be, but your local mail service could probably estimate it for you.

    How long till Damascus Ice?

  32. Thanks for the reply just one last thing i know that these are unlimited but they are still numbered aren’t they? I was wondering if i could request number 23? It’s my favorite number and i would appreciate it but isn’t the end of the world if i can’t have it.

  33. Saqib on April 16, 2013 at 7:58 am said:

Are the Longclaw and Ice book versions really sold out forever? As in there is no way anyone can purchase one ever again. They look so much better than the TV versions, I was gutted when I found out they had sold out before I even knew about them.
On a related note, does the show longclaw look similar to the book version?

  34. @Adam, only if you had the 23rd or earlier order.

@Saqib They’re permanently discontinued, it doesn’t mean you can’t buy one, it just means you can’t buy one from us. You’ll have to buy one from another collector (buy one used).

The show Longclaw looks exactly like th eshow prop.

Hey guys how sturdy is the blade when held? Is it like longclaw?

  37. This website should definitely have a pool of items they would like to purchase in the future. You should scour the planet for the best damascus steel smiths, and start stock piling book renditions. We will never see “famous” valyrian swords like “Bright-Roar” and ” Dark Sister” in the television show, so you guys must create enough for everyone

  39. Hi
    I’d have 2 guestions.
1st: Why it costs more than the book version
and 2nd: How much Longclaw will be?

  40. @Youssef, it is very sturdy, it is full tang.

    @Nolla.

    1. It is slightly bigger, also, it has been a few years (I think we made the book Ice in 09) so regular cost inflation pushes raw materials up.
    2. $250.

How much will the damascus versions of ice and longclaw cost?

And thank you so much for making these swords!

  42. will HBO longclaw be full tang and will the Damascus version be released the same time as the regular version? also will the Damascus be a limited edition for both swords?

  43. How much will the Damascus version cost?

  44. Will you guys be making swords that do not come out on the tv show? like aegon the conqueror famous sword? Just order Ice and cant wait to hang it on my house

  45. We’ll continue to make both book and show swords, so some items left off the show but mentioned in the books might be produced. Probably not Aegon’s sword, not unless Dany finds it and starts using it from dragonback.

    Good afternoon.
Could you have it sent to Romania (the country is a member of the European Union)?

Thank you very much for your answer, good luck.

  47. Yes we can ship to ROmania

  48. will jaime lannisters sword be full tang and 1060 carbon like ice?

  49. and will tis sword be on amazon.com

  50. First question, probably not Vin, since the hilt is so decorative.

    Second question, eventually.

Excellent. Will be purchasing the Damascus edition of this for sure (or this if Damascus is sold out)!
Just to settle curiosity, how wide is the blade and hilt respectively?

  53. Hey, which weapons and armour can we except this year?

  54. Dorian on May 1, 2013 at 9:09 pm said:

I’m curious about why you guys aren’t producing Ned’s longsword? It looks beautiful – far more visually interesting than Robb’s sword, and is quite iconic given Ned has it in his hands in the marketing material where he’s sitting on the throne.

  55. We can only do 1 Ned Sword, Ice seems like the obvious choice.

  56. Adam on May 3, 2013 at 8:46 am said:

I agree with Dorian the longsword looks amazing and i would have happily paid the same amount for it as i paid for Ice, Why are you only able to do 1 Ned Sword? something to do with your licence?

I was very interested in buying the longclaw sword, but there was a mixup and my order did’t go through. By the time I had realized, it had been sold out, I am hoping you will start producing them again. Any word on if that will happen any time soon?

  63. Jeff on May 14, 2013 at 2:52 am said:

ah also I forgot will the Damascus HBO Longclaw have the GRRM signature.

  64. No HBO licensed products will carry GRRM’s signature, that honor will be reserved for his book licensed products (his hand is really tired ). Damascus will be limited editions always.

  65. Michael on June 3, 2013 at 2:55 pm said:

I really hope you decide to make Jaime’s golden sword fulltang and high carbon steel. One of the best swordsmen in the book shouldn’t have a wallhanger. Functional would really push people (myself included) into purchasing them.

  66. We haven’t seen it yet in-house, but with that sort of decorative hilt really can’t do full tang. For a full tang sword the tang extends out the end of the pommel, if HBO didn’t build it that way, if it isn’t there, we cannot edit the pommel appearance to add it.

  67. Jack on June 5, 2013 at 1:24 pm said:

    Hi :)

Sorry if this has been asked before, but is there any chance of you making Roose Bolton’s sword? I love the hilt

  68. Hi,
Will it be possible to request a matching number for Damascus Ice?

  69. Great, then I’d like to request #188

  70. You’d need to request it at time of order in the order comments.

  71. Will you guys make dawn? As well as Roberts warhammer from the shiw utvwas on display at the exhibition so it does exist?

  72. Will you guys make Dawn?

  73. sorry vin at this time we do not intend to make either.

  74. Do you guys have any dates for ice? I bought mine in may, already charged and just wondering on timing? I know you guys said late summer but do you have a date?

  80. We think September

  81. Jacob on July 6, 2013 at 11:53 pm said:

Will there be a sheath for the new longclaw, and will you be producing oathkeeper?

  82. Will oathbreaker and HBO longclaw both fit on the Stark shield wall mount? Also is there any word of when a photo will be released of them both?

  83. Will Ice’s blade have two finishes on the blade like the show version as I can’t make this out from the pictures? The show version has a mirrored/shiny finish at the edge of the blade and the middle of the blade has a opaque/patterned finish. Thanks.

  84. I was kind of wondering the same thing. If it doesn’t come with that finish, something you could try is applying your own mustard patina, with painter’s tape along the outer area to keep it shiny and uniform. Here’s a tutorial I found http://bushcraftusa.com/forum/showthread.php/64928-French%E2%80%99s-Mustard-Patina-Tutorial. It seems to be much simpler than other acid etching methods, and with nice results. I saw on another site that darker mustards tend to produce lighter variations, which would seem to suit better for Ice’s centre pattern.

All this being said, I’ve never done this, and I still haven’t decided if I want to do it myself when Ice arrives (if it’s not already patterned). Valyrian Steel makes some beautiful products, and I hate to tamper with a good thing.

  85. Just found a couple of very high res shots, and it looks like a very light damascus pattern.

    http://www.farfarawaysite.com/section/got/gallery1/hires/41.jpg
    http://www.farfarawaysite.com/section/got/gallery1/hires/43.jpg

That could be a lot trickier to pull off, and time consuming as all Hell, but I’m still looking into it. Whatever I decide, though, I’m definitely practicing on something cheap first :P.

  86. I just got this message from VS:

We are doing two versions, a damascus steel version (not available for preorder yet) and the standard version you’ve seen. The damascus version will be the one with the pattern.

    Chris
    Valyrian Steel

I’m very disappointed the standard version of this sword won’t have the finish that the show sword has and no doubt the Damascus version will be about $600. I have this version pre-ordered but I’m contemplating cancelling it. Additionally, I was planning to pre-order longclaw but I’m assuming that it will be the same story.

  87. Actually Damascus Ice will be at least $700.

But really, there is no other way to do that. Those ripples are created by damascus steel, so you can’t really get them in a plain steel blade. On our book ones we did a an acid etch for a faux damascus texture, but it really doesn’t look much like actual damascus and it won’t match anything about the props.

We don’t make a damascus steel version just so we can charge more for it, we make one so we can get the ripples. It is an intrinsic feature of that type of steel.

  88. Release was pushed back again, to December. Does this have any effect on other new pieces; pushing them back as well? Or will we continue to see more preorders/releases in the near future? Thanks!

  89. no effect, and December isn’t sure, we’re trying to get at least some in sooner. Might just be a couple hundred to cover the earliest preorders. A certain wolf topped sword will be almost concurrent actually despite not being up for preorders yet.

  90. Any idea what month earlier than december the first couple hundred of ice might come out?

  91. It would be cool to have a Robert Baratheon Helm to go with this awesome War Hammer !! .. just an idea

  92. will they make a scabbard for ice

  93. Too bad, do you think it will be released in January or will it be pushed back again – Thank You

  94. It will not be pushed back again, the sword is done, it is in fact in a shipping container in Washington State right now. It needs to be trucked to Michigan (which may take longer than normal because of the holidays) to our warehouse, then we ship it. So its really close.
