The Damascus Longclaw has sold out. We have a small buffer in case of damaged ones, and there is always a chance of an order cancellation between now and when the final shipment ships. So, when it is all said and done, we may end up with 3 units or so.

So, here is what we’re going to do. If you want an option of purchasing one of those leftovers, post in the comments of this blog post that you want to be on the wait list. Then, we’ll just manually contact people on the wait list, in order, if we have any extra after fulfilling all existing orders.

Update We’ve got more than enough people on the list, we’re likely to have less than 5 units available, and there is like 30 people waiting now. So, no need to get your hopes up and add any new names. The stainless Longclaw is going to be the only option for most of you. With Ice, we’ll make more damascus ones.

    sign me up!!

  35. Okay everyone, we have 20 or 30 people on this list, and are likely to have less than 5 swords. So thank you for your interest (we really should have made more of these I guess) but at this point, there is little need to add more names to the backorder list.

The stainless Longclaw is of course available for the majority of you who will not get a damascus.

If you have a waiting list of 30 and there is sure to be more interest due to the TV show why not do another run of Damascus longclaws for fans who got here too late.

  40. It was sold as a limited edition of 100. Many fans bought it (at no small cost, or no short wait) because it was so limited (and thus collectible). It would be unfair to them to make more.

  41. Ben Wallace on June 21, 2011 at 9:40 pm said:

The expense would be the same to new customers if you did another run. A limited run is still limited if it is 100 or 150 or 200. Crazy…

    Chris:
I am so happy that I got my Damascus Longclaw before they were sold out. I am thinking that it will be a good July. To receive the masterpiece at the same time as the release of “A Dance With Dragons” makes it so.
Thank you for your help and responses to me and your answer to Mr. Wallace.
    Best regards,
    Tim

    To Mr. Wallace,

As much as it doesn’t seem fair to you that you couldn’t get a Damascus longclaw, imagine how it would feel to all those that have waited for so long toget it, just to find out that anyone can come in, complain a little and get in a few months what others waited a few years for. If you waited patiently in line for a few years, would you appreciate someone coming in after the fact saying,”hey, I’ll have what he’s having”. I think not. Anyways, doesn’t really matter because Valyrian has made the fair decision to not release another batch of these swords. As for Damascus Ice, I guess the playing field just got a lot more crowded. Thanks for everything Valyrian.

  44. Have the people that purchased the Damascus Longclaw actually explicitly said, “No don’t make anymore, we can’t stand having more than 100 in existence”?

  45. Tim Fredrickson on July 19, 2011 at 5:42 pm said:

    Joe:
    Good question.
I do not want to seem greedy or exclusive. However, when I ordered my Damascus Longclaw, I ordered it in response to the notice that there were only a few left. It seemed expensive at the time and I knew I would have to wait. In making the decision to order it, I knew that if I did not buy it, I would kick myself and regret deeply that I did not. I could see this day coming so I made the decision to avoid the regret. I am very glad I did and would do it the same way again. We all had a chance to purchase the Damascus Longclaw. I took the chance and now could not be happier. I will now have a sword that very few others will have. This is fitting of the legacy of the Longclaw now in Jon Snow’s hand. If it were otherwise, perhaps I would not have bothered. Maybe, someday, years from now I will feel differently. But for now, I am happy that there were so few of these made.
    Best regards,
    Tim

People, you have to understand something…
There hundreds of thousands of fans to this saga from the books, I think that the number easily jumped to millions after the release of the series on HBO. These millions of people are scattered all over the world. You are holding in your hands something that is limited to 2500 copies and while it’s a quite large number for limited editions it dwarfs in comparison to the number of fans. Frankly, I’m surprised that the non Damascus longclaw is not sold out, I would expect VS items to sell out fairly quickly and when it will happen you will be holding a unique item that only 2500 people have and millions want. I don’t think that you would like VS to increase production of a limited edition because it will decrease the value of your sword/mace/lance/warhammer… I’m not one of the people who managed to get the Damascus Longclaw (I wish I could have been) but let those people enjoy their luck and it only makes for good competition on the next ultra-limited VS item.

    Dear VS:
There is no doubt that the “D” version of the Longclaw is beautiful. It is more than a replica it is the real deal, strong, functional, and a piece of craftwork. It is already on display in my home and will be with me for years as I read and reread the Song of Ice and Fire series
Thank you VS. The wait WAS worth it.
    Best,
    Tim
