Vote: What should we make next

We had originally planned to do Khal Drogo’s arakh, but might not. In anycase, we thought we’d ask you your opinion. Please vote here.

  1. Robert Heaney  Says:

How about Gendry’s helm? Just a thought. You do beautiful work!

  2. Justin  Says:

    I second Gendry’s helm.
But if you have to stick to the actual Valyrian Steel theme, I would love to see Oathkeeper. Swirls of black and red would be pretty cool.

  3. Matthew  Says:

How about an update on the expensive version of longclaw?

  4. Brude  Says:

Dawn would be nice, but we only have vague descriptions of what it looks like. (Also, how would you do the blade? Isn’t it some strange pale white color, or something?)

I’m thinking Oathkeeper seems to be the next logical one, or maybe a Dothraki Arakh. (Googling, I see you guys started a thread about Arakhs on the Westeros board. I like the mambele swords I’ve seen online as models for those.)

I don’t think any of the other ones, except Widow’s Wail, have descriptions, but maybe George has ideas. The rest are, I believe: Blackfyre, Dark Sister, Brightroar, Heartsbane, Lady Forlorn, Nightfall and Red Rain.

  5. Vity  Says:

What about Ice? Id love to get that!

  6. valyrian  Says:

Ice is being made right now, see other posts here for pictures.

Damascus Longclaw is still projected for April.

It doesn’t have to be something “valyrian steel” for us to make it, obviously, Needle is not.

  7. Marin Zambata  Says:

My vote goes for Robert’s Warhammer! In addition I would really like to see Shagga’s Axe :)

  8. SA_Avenger  Says:

To be honest I’d love a shield (many choices there) or a helm (gendry’s but a try at anything related to the white guard would rock as well). Also think that doing small things (like Robb’s crown?) could sell better than a warhammer that would be heavy and costly (not that I wouldn’t want to see one, but own one is another matter).
With longclaw (sry still don’t like the hilt, would really prefer “pale stone” look of the wolf than completely white as it’s), needle and ice you have 3 different type of swords that most people here would want.
If you really want to go with more weapons then I suggest Petyr’s Baelish valyrian dagger that was used to try killing Bran.

  9. Jerrod  Says:

Dawn would be my first choice. A great blade that was wielded by the finest of knights would be a great addition to anyone’s collection.

  10. Jared  Says:

My poll vote isn’t very helpful since I’ll probably buy everything :-)
I think you should do a helmet next, then an arakh, then the warhammer, before doing another greatsword. I think to be aesthetically pleasing as a full collection, you should eventually do 2 helmets to bookend all the weapons, but I’m guessing not everyone has a GRRM gear-wall in their living room like I do.

  11. First Ranger  Says:

    The Hound’s Helm or Ice!!

  12. David Dow  Says:

I’m going to second the vote for the dragonbone handled Valyrian steel dagger. Whether it was Tyrion’s or Petyr’s or ultimately just a forgotten gift in Robert’s wardrobe, it would make a beautiful addition and a nice counterpoint to the three types of blades already released.

  13. Adam  Says:

Dawn would be exceptionally awesome and my definite number one choice. Descriptions are vague, but with GRRM on board you can construct any weapon in the book series after a little input. Robert’s warhammer would be my second choice, since that would be a very unique in a collection.

  14. Hugh  Says:

I would also like to cast my vote for the dragonbone-handled Valyrian steel dagger. It would be a lovely complement to the other items you’ve already done.

  15. Chris  Says:

Honestly, I would buy them all (working up the money for Needle right now, and the expected money for Ice). But the arakh would probably be the lowest priority on my list. My mind would probably change if I saw some concept art (I don’t really remember what Drogo’s looked like), but until then, the Hound’s helm would be my #1 choice.

  16. Ryan  Says:

I am going to cast my vote for the Valyrian Steel Dagger. You have three swords on the way, a dagger would compliment them, very well.

  17. David  Says:

I would love to see Lady Forlorn and Blacfyre

  18. Jason H  Says:

    Definately Blackfyre or Robert’s Warhammer.

  19. Ryan  Says:

    DAWN

  20. valyrian  Says:

GRRM said we definitely can’t do anything that he hasn’t written descriptively enough about yet. So no Dawn, no Blackfyre, no Lady Forlorn. We included Dawn in the poll anyways, because we knew it’d be popular.

For all of those who want a dagger? Would you buy it even if it was as expensive as a sword? (if we did a damascus dagger it might end up as expensive as say regular Needle). Would you buy it even if it didn’t have a real bone hilt and instead was some sort of resin or plastic? (Like the impossibility of producing hand carved stone for a wolf head, producing carved bone hilts for a dagger would be impossible, in a mass production scenario).

Also, the dagger would not be shippable to many countries. Many places forbid the import of double bladed weapons (like daggers) that are small enough to be concealed. Needle barely makes the cut off, anything smaller and a good chunk of our International customers would be cut off, no pun intended.

  21. mark  Says:

Dragonbone handled dagger for sure, Budk has damascus steel bone handled blades, but yes i would buy a resin handled dagger that was well sculpted

  22. Kim  Says:

I like the idea of the dragonbone handled dagger as well. I’m surprised no one has mentioned Oathkeeper, the blade Jaime gave to Brienne.

  23. Mel  Says:

I’d really like to see you guys do the dragonbone dagger. Assuming that the hilt looks good, and not like plastic (even if it is), I’d have no problem paying as much for it as for a sword. For me the dagger is one of the most important weapons in books, and I’d love to have it on my wall.

  24. Joe  Says:

    Robert’s Warhammer. Definitely.

  25. Felix  Says:

I voted for Dawn, but since that’s apparently out of the question for now, I’d go for Oathkeeper, or maybe the Hound’s helm.

  26. Adam McLaughlin  Says:

I would love blackfyre, but I think Drogo’s Arakh would be great! Always been a big fan of the Dothraki. I think Ice would be followed then followed up by Oathkeeper and Widow’s wail

for a non-sword my vote would be for the hounds helm

  27. Shaunn Wenig  Says:

the ONE thing that I want more than anything else is the Hound’s helmet. After that I would definitely like Robert’s hammer or Oathkeeper - the Dragonbone dagger would be cool as well, but lower on my list. Keep up the great work guys, the swords are magnificent

  28. Sean  Says:

What about Lightbringer, the red sword of heroes?

  29. valyrian  Says:

Lightbringer doesn’t exist does it? Doesn’t Stannis just keep burning up waster swords and tells people it’s lightbringer but really it isn’t?

  30. Lexington  Says:

Personally, I think Oathkeeper and Widow’s Wail should be the next out the pipe, as they were forged from Ice after it was melted down. I think it’d be a nice way to move away from the Starks into the rest of the world after Ice is put out.

Just my humble opinion. I voted for all of the choices, since I think they’d all be great to have!

  31. Scott  Says:

    “Oathkeeper” or Aegon I “Blackfyre”

  32. Dillon  Says:

You should try to make Victarion Greyjoy’s battle ax or helm next. That would be freakin’ sweet!!!!!

  33. Adam  Says:

or building on the greyjoy. “Asha’s husband” her axe

  34. Nathan  Says:

I would love to see Oathkeeper, but how would you do the red and black ripples? I see some expert forgesmiths can make colored damascus using baking lacquers and hot/cold coloring/bluing, but a whole sword made up of this material would cost a pretty penny (one I just may be willing to part with btw). Any case, that is my vote, but not being a swordsmith/forger I don’t know if the technology to do it right is out there yet. Doing a less expensive/non-damascus oathkeeper blade - I have no idea how you’d get the ripples and or color, but would love to see the result if you could.

  35. Marie  Says:

    Dawn or Dark Sister!

  36. mark  Says:

A non weapon i would love to see on my wall would have to be the shield of Duncan the tall that Brienne had painted. Drogo’s arakh as a non valyrian steel weapon, and still the dragonbone handled dagger with a horizontal desktop display.

  37. Mark  Says:

    Dagger.

  38. Tony D.  Says:

@Valyrian: if my memory serves, Lightbringer V2.0 is the one Stannis has, which isn’t the original Lightbringer, but is magical in it’s own way. When unsheathed it glows, and the colors ripple across the steel. However, the difference between the original Lightbringer and the one created by Melisandre is in the method used to temper the blade (I don’t want to reveal much about the story). Now, Thoros of Myr does use a new sword during each melee; he purchases cheap steel and dips it in wildfire, which ruins the sword.

  39. Alex  Says:

Roberts Helm from the trident , Gendrys helm, or Roberts Warhammer

  40. SA_Avenger  Says:

I would buy a dagger even for the price of a regular sword (hear needle more than ice though :/). On the other hand I won’t buy if the handle is made of plastic (or at least if it feels or look like plastic) I understand a bone hilt would be too expensive or can’t be done but I’d prefer painted wood over plastic. I’m international (belgium) but I don’t know what are the laws for such things here, I just know I’d love a dagger (and it’d fit my price range, can’t buy everything unfortunately) so if it’s possible for me to get it here I’ll.
If not then I am a bit at loss. I’m thinking I won’t buy another sword (though I know I may consider Ice) that’s why I proposed something smaller that more people could afford or something different (hound helm will probably be successfull if well made and not looking too crude) another thought is the Hand’s chain or a maester chain. Don’t know what other people’s thought are about this though.

  41. Beau  Says:

If you do a shield, I recommend the shield of Ser Duncan the Tall.

I agree with the Dragonbone handled dagger.

  42. Dwayne  Says:

I don’t want to go backwards here and I don’t know how the sword was designed, but I’d love to get an interchangeable bears head for the Damascus Longclaw. I’m also willing to pay more for better quality, so if you can make limited Damascus editions of some of the items with (for example) a bone or ivory handle rather than plastic I’d buy them! Other than that I’d like the weapons and armor that are more prominent in the book (it’s been a while but I remember the Hound’s Helm having more read time than Gendry’s Helm) rather than the ones that are just mentioned. That being said, I’m going to try my best to buy all of them (and store them in my basement because I have no place to put them all)! :)

  43. Mike  Says:

I know this would take a lot of steel and be very expensive but someone should make Valyrian armor. I don’t remember it being in the books, but it would be cool to have.
    Any thoughts?

  44. Cristy  Says:

I actually really liked the idea of Robb’s crown. The minature sword arranged into a crown and it would kind of wrap up the Stark collection. I am also really digging the idea of Robert’s war hammer (put some red shards into it to look like embedded rubies from the Battle of the Trident or enclose some in the box LOL). I also like the ideas of the dagger and the helms (both of them).
Man if you guys get to making all this stuff you’ll be in biz forever! YAY!

  45. Jake  Says:

I personally voted for Dawn, though I knew going in that it wouldn’t be the one they make next.
So far, the swords being made are weapons that are fairly important to the story. I think that trend should continue.
Robert’s war hammer will be rad when it comes out, but while it plays a large part in the history of the seven kingdoms, it had no role in the story.
Oathkeeper is probably the next logical choice, seeing as no other weapons really play much of a role in the story.
As far as the dagger is concerned, it is important to the story, but not an important weapon in itself. It was a cast-off for Robert and had no name.
I admit, I will buy it, but I don’t see how it fits into the theme of what Valyriansteel seems to be doing.

  46. Tony  Says:

Wow, a lot of great ideas that have opened my eyes and wallet to new possibilities. I’ve asked before about the dragonbone-handled Valyrian steel dagger. I trust the craftsmanship of Valyrian Steel, but am VERY wary of plastic. Dragonbone is supposed to have a high iron content, could the handle be metal and powder coated like Longclaw’s Pommel? Just an Idea, and $150-350 for an item of similar value, quality, and rarety as the Damascus Longclaw is fine by me. Other things I’m now interested in are Helms! (Hound, Tywin, Jaime, Gendry). Also, if Martin will consent, Robert’s War Hammer, Tyrion’s axe, Asha’s Iron Islands weapons, an Arakh … the possibilities go on, and on, and on.

  47. winter is coming  Says:

Ice, it is the most loved sword or Brienne’s sword that was forged form Ice

  48. Dabear  Says:

I think a version of longclaw before the fire and it still had the bears head would be a nice piece for the collection.

  49. Karate kid  Says:

Jaimes golden sword would be pretty sweet

  50. Ryan  Says:

too bad you can’t make dawn….nearly doubled all the other votes which obviously means it would sell the best

  51. Stephen  Says:

My top two votes are for the dagger and the warhammer. Frankly though I’m not so sure I’d be up for paying the same price for the dagger as I would for the sword. I’m planning on buying Ice when it is released but I simply can’t afford to buy the entire collection. For myself and anyone else out there on a tight budget I can say that having a less expensive option would be fantastic. Also I wouldn’t have a problem with a nice resin handle (although wouldn’t a real bone handle be friggin sweet?!)

The warhammer would also be great. I love the idea of all of the swords but I’d really love to round the collection out with some more substantial variety. I’ve always loved warhammers and to have an authentic version of Robert’s would be amazing.

Keep up the good work guys. I’m indescribably excited about Ice.

  52. LordSnow  Says:

Id like to see Drogo’s arakh…
I drew a concept myself, id like to see what you come up with

  53. Robb  Says:

    The Hounds Helm, nuff said.

Roberts Hammer be a second choice.

  54. Ian  Says:

Show me Oberyn The Red Viper’s spear for 500 please Alex.

  55. Mike  Says:

I want to see Ice! I want to guy a greatsword!

  56. Blake  Says:

What about “Oathkeeper?” Could be tough to get that red and black Damascus effect though.

  57. Wayne  Says:

I like the idea of the Damascus dagger and agree that plastic would not work well. Some of the Corian type materials are nice but still plastic. Tyrion’s Axe would be cool although it is a common weapon. Ice, Long Claw, Oathkeeper and Khal Drogo’s arakh all are ones I would consider, but shaking it up with other weapon types would really round out the collection. Thanks for the opportunity to chime in.

  58. Disco Pete  Says:

    Dragonglass dagger would be cool

  59. Travis  Says:

Dawn, Ice, and Rhaegar’s ruby-encrusted armor.

  60. stri  Says:

Jamie/Brienne’s Oathkeeper is my first choice.
I think that one would be a wonderful addition to my sword collection.

…not sure if this is possible, but a life-scale version of the Iron Throne would be soooo excellent.
Though hard to construct, and not to mention expensive to obtain.
Though personally…I would absolutely be saving up for that.

    Well, that’s my two cents.
    Fingers are crossed.

  61. Timmy  Says:

Personally valyrian, I think a ‘Valyrian’ Steel dagger with a bone handle would be your best option after Robert’s Warhammer because for one; people obviously want it, two you can make a large supply of them being its a dagger, and three you would with out doubt make money off of it… But who am I to say what you should do? I just think its a logical answer to the question at hand of ‘What to do’ after Ice and Robert’s Hammer. If you would like to you can get me back on what I’ve said so I can better understand what you can and ‘cant’ do.

  62. Timmy  Says:

But I can see that finding a ‘dragon bone’ handles might be a problem since well I cant think of anything with black bones… But there might be a way of dying them black because bone is composed of calcium with some proteins. But it wouldnt be any different then dying an easter egg… Just making sure it permenant is a thing to consider. I went in depth on a search of how to make a damascus steel blade with a bone handle. So my answer is to try and dye it black. :)
