Balon Greyjoy's younger brother Euron returned from years at sea to claim the Iron Islands as his own - by killing his brother. Not as impressed as before
"It pains me to write this review but I just received my axe, number 54/3000 as much as I want to love it in the same way I love Roberts Warhammer and Ice, (both of which I own) there are a few niggles which I can't unsee. (1) The wrapping is terrible - it seems as though no time or care was taken with the wrapping which is annoying when its supposed to be a display piece. Luckily the wrapping was loose enough for me to move it around and make it look semi reasonable - no where near the quality I would expect from a professional blade smith though. (2) The Kraken displayed in the image on the site has obviously been worn to make it stand out - the Kraken on the Axe I received is almost Matt black and clearly hasn't had the effort applied to it like the one displayed on the site. (3) The blade that was used for the Axe head has clear rust on it. almost as though a rusty piece of metal was just cut up and then fashioned into an axe head. (4) The blade has "Axe of Euron Greyjoy VS0125 0054 one of 3000 China" written on the side. very clear and very visible - sadly this is on the side with the better looking Kraken. Why have I got China written on a blade which was supposedly forged in Chattanooga. This may explain the circles I also found on the blade which have been ground down to try and hide them. I can only assume the axe heads are mass produced in china and then sent to the USA before being cut from a spot weld, ground down and then assembled there and then shipped out. (5) The bolts that connect the haft to the head are also rusted in places and the wood has been damaged where they have been counter sunk. (6) There are numerous small chunks out of the haft. (7) The certificate of authenticity is no longer printed on card or signed by GRRM, it is instead printed on a flimsy embossed piece of paper. All in all I'm annoyed that I waited 9 months for a birthday present that turns out to not be as high quality as other pieces I have received from Valyrian Steel. If I hadn't seen the quality of the products Valyrian steel have been able to produce I'm sure I wouldn't be as annoyed. The Axe has a good weight to it and it feels sturdy but I know what can be produced and sadly this is a poor representation. I sadly wont be spending any more money with the company unless I can be assured the products I receive have been crafted by those that were crafting them from back in the day of the initial release of (Book version )Ice and Roberts War hammer. RESPONSE: We're sorry, please contact us if you'd like to exchange that one sounds a bit defective."
